Foliage in Abruzzo: The 3 Best Areas to Admire It and some itineraries

The term "foliage" Derives from French and means "foliage". This natural phenomenon, admired in many parts of the world, occurs when tree leaves change color before falling in autumn. Abruzzo, with its temperate climate and vast forests, offers an ideal backdrop for this spectacle of nature. Trees, valleys and leaves in autumn are the undisputed protagonists of the foliage, the period in which the landscapes are tinged with countless shades of yellow, orange and red.

A shower of colored leaves draws new paths and offers warm autumn emotions. The still pleasant temperatures allow for easy excursions and walks in this nature: an ideal subject for photographs and evocative backgrounds.

Between the months of October and November you can admire the gradual change of shades among the branches of our trees: bright brown, deep orange, fiery red, strong yellow.

There are many places in Abruzzo where you can admire this unique phenomenon, from Campo Imperatore, to Rigopiano, Voltigno, the Valle D'Angri, the Sicilian Valley.

New colors, new atmospheres, from the slopes of the Gran Sasso to the hills that extend sinuous along the entire valley, the Sicilian Valley is rich in woods.

The Gran Sasso, the highest peak in the Apennines, becomes a spectacle of beauty during autumn, when the foliage reaches its peak and nature prepares for winter.

The Colors of Autumn

In autumn, the leaves of the trees go through a spectacular transformation. Deciduous trees, such as oaks, maples and beeches, begin to show shades of red, orange, yellow and purple. This color palette creates a breathtaking backdrop on the slopes of Gran Sasso and the surrounding valleys.
